Jack Schoenberger moved into sole possession of the lead with a 7-under 63 in the 2nd round of the 66th Eastern Amateur. The Belmont University sophomore started hot with 5-under 30 on the front nine. The back proved to be a bit more of a scramble and he went to the par-5 18th stuck at 5-under. Two perfect shots to the green and a holed 30 ft eagle putt and he posted the day’s lowest round. 1st round leader Charlie Hanson from Virginia Tech, Radford’s Bryce Corbett and University of Utah golfer Brandon Robison share 2nd place two shots back at 6-under par. Chesapeake’s Patrick Gareiss who plays at Radford and incoming Wake Forest freshman, Kyle Haas are tied for 5th at 4-under. 60 golfers made the cut at 5-over 145. Third round play begins at 8am tomorrow at Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club in Portsmouth.
