Radford senior Bryce Corbett shot 3-under par 67 in the third round to take a one-shot lead at 9-under 201 after three rounds of the 66th Eastern Amateur. His scorecard was clean and his lead was three at 10-under par until the long par-3 16th. He made double bogey to drop back to 8-under. Corbett bounced back with a nice chip from just right of the green to 2 feet on the par-5 18th for birdie and the lead. Christopher Newport’s Robb Kinder who tied for 2nd at the NCAA Division III National Championship is a shot back at 8-under 202. Kinder had the low round of the day at 6-under par 64. Kinder has made just one bogey over the last 38 holes and he has played the past two rounds 11-under par, rebounding from an opening three over par 73.
Second round leader Jack Schoenberger, a sophomore at Belmont University, bounced back from a slow start playing the last 7 holes in 3-under to join Kinder in a tie for 2nd place after an even par 70. Wake Forest incoming golfer Kyle Haas shot 67 and is alone in 4th at 7-under par. Brandon Robison, a sophomore from the University of Utah is 5th at 6-under. Trey Wren, former Temple University and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy golfer, shot 5-under 65 and is joined in a tie for 5th place with Virginia Tech’s David Stanford at 5-under par 205. Among other local golfers Chesapeake’s Adam Horton is tied for 15th at 1-under par through 54 holes.
